"What an honor and source of spiritual reflection it was for me to be, by the special grace of God, physician to Father Cimatti.
Whenever I stood by Father Cimatti's bedside, a reflection naturally came to my mind, both as a doctor and as a person,
about how small my spiritual burden was compared with the great responsibility.
As a doctor, among my many patients, I have never seen a man as great as Father Cimatti.
Of course, since he is a human being with a physical body and not an angel, it is natural that he will make a pained expression when he is in pain,
and a pained face when he is in pain.
Even so, it seems to me that Father Cimatti was thinking and acting on a level that transcends all human, physiological, and biological factors.
When I stand before a patient suffering from pain, I have no desire to criticize them, saying that this person has patience or that person does not...
However, Father Cimatti appears to have possessed a sensitivity that is far superior to all other categories.
In my opinion, he possessed "super sensitivity," and I cannot help but believe that this "super" was something that Father Cimatti acquired through years of
training and devotion in his faith...
From a medical perspective, Father Cimatti's biological reactions were already governed by nature, through faith and supernatural training.
By examining Father Cimatti, I experienced firsthand how spiritual power can have a powerful influence on physiological and biological phenomena.
I apologize for this intuitive thought, but whenever I visit Father Cimatti, I always return home with "something" gained.
I don't know specifically what this "something" is, but I have always come to sense that this is what it means to be a person who has received God's grace, who is in unity with God,
who lives only with God.
During the two and a half years that Father Cimatti was ill, I did not receive a single sermon or spiritual discourse,
but what he taught me silently and with his whole body was worth more than a thousand sermons,
and it gave me the conviction that saints do indeed exist in this world.
Although I have never had the opportunity to hear a spiritual discourse from Father Cimatti,
God has silently and visibly shown me the most valuable ideas for our eternal life: His existence, union with Him, and complete surrender to Him.
If Father Cimatti were not a saint, there would be no saints in this world, and it would be completely futile for us to strive to become saints.
I am truly grateful to Almighty God for using my position as a doctor to show me a true saint and to give me great courage and inspiration for my weak faith."
