Born Village
Vincenzo Cimatti was an Italian priest.
Italy is divided into three regions: North, Central and South. Father Cimatti was born in the city of Faenza, located in the north of central Italy,
between Ravenna and Rimini along the Adriatic Sea.
To reach the town, you must cross the Ramone River and eventually reach the village of Dumbecco on the outskirts of the town.
At that time, the village had a population of 2,400 people, was poor and had a hard life, and had many dilapidated houses. In the center was the Church of St. Anotnino, and there was a large playground.
During the Second World War, all these houses were destroyed. They have now been rebuilt and are part of the city of Faenza, but the only things that remain are the church and the playground.
The inhabitants of the old village of Dubecco lived off a day's work and it was here that the Cimatti family lived. They were known by the nickname "Padees" (house of the afflicted) and were considered a family in need of help.
Family
Father Cimatti's father was called Jacob and his mother was called Rosa. They were both from the province of Faenza, and met through business. They married on November 10, 1859, when he was 23 and she was 21.
Jacob worked as a day laborer and Rosa worked as a tailor to support the family, and as the years passed, they were blessed by God to have six children.
Their first daughter, Santina, was born on June 6, 1861. Her name means "holy one," and today, as her name suggests, she is recognized as a "blessed" by the Church.
She was blessed with good health and remained at home until she was 28, caring for her siblings as they were born one after the other, providing an important help to her mother.
At the age of 28, she entered a convent of nurses, where she ministered to the sick, and lived to the age of 84.
On April 27, 1864. Their second son, "Domenico" was born . He was called to God at the age of six, bringing an end to his short, flowery life.
On January 25, 1867. "Aloysius" was born. He became a Salesian friar and served as a missionary in Peru, South America, before dying at the age of 56.
On September 19, 1869. "Paul" was born, but passed away at the age of just seven.
In 1876. "Antonio" was born , but passed away before he was even a year old.
On July 15, 1879, while the family was living in Borgo Casanova, the sixth child, "Vincenzo", was born and was baptized the same day in the Cathedral of Faenza. He was given three names,
to ensure his long life and the protection of the saints: "Vincenzo, Henri, and Gaspar".
On April 4, 1882, his father died at the young age of 46. At the time, his mother was 44, his sister was 19, Aloisio was 15, and his youngest son, Vincenzo, was not yet three years old.
