(16) An interesting discovery in Aoshima, Miyazaki
Easter Monday, April 5, 1926, from the Miyazaki Church Journal
Today we all went on an excursion to Aoshima Island on the Nichinan coast. It was a good opportunity for Father Cimacci to collect specimens of seaweed and shellfish to send to Turin. What was interesting was visiting a believer called Fuji-san. He is the only believer in the area, but he does a good job. His house is like a hospital with a few beds. His prescriptions for patients are reduced food intake, drinking water rich in iron that springs up nearby, and mental care. During the recuperation, he also asks questions, gives advice, teaches Catholic catechesis, and gives peace of mind. This treatment has been very effective, and most patients get better and are discharged fully recovered. So far, 12-13 people have become Catholics.
