Excellent musical talent
Father Cimatti was born with musical talent. He was often made to sing solos from a young age, and had an angelic boy soprano voice. People would say, "When he sings, it feels like he's praying." As an adult, his baritone voice moved congregations.
He learned piano and organ in junior high school, and composed his first piece at the age of 16, continuing to do so until one year before his death.
Around 950 compositions are on display at the Cimatti Museum in Chofu. Father Cimatti's operettas in particular are well-known in Salesian projects and churches around the world, and are filled with pleasant melodies that seem to come naturally from the heart.
@The museum contains drafts and handwritten notes on all aspects of music, including music theory and harmony. Sometimes the pieces were left unaccompanied because I didn't have time to complete them and they weren't necessary for my own playing. Later, his pupils supplemented his teacher's musical accompaniment, which they had remembered. His works include not only religious music, but also 49 operettas and many songs for events and public entertainment. He also has around 400 Japanese songs, including the opera "Hosokawa Gracia." Some of the songs are featured on the CD.
