Grace through the intercession of Father Cimatti

"Are there miracles?" ― In 1991, Father Cimatti was given the title "Venerable" by Pope John Paul II, meaning that after an investigation into his life and virtues, he was deemed eligible for sainthood.
During his 25-year tenure, Pope John Paul II beatified and canonized hundreds of "blessed" and "saints." Each of them received a certified miracle from the "Commission for the Investigation of Miracles of Saints." A "miracle" is a "grace" from God. However, not all "grace" is a "miracle." Our existence and nature are also God's "grace," but they are not called "miracles." The Church recognizes as "miracles" events that cannot be explained naturally, given their content and circumstances, such as terminal cancer, or sudden healing of a broken bone or physical illness. This is because God's special arrangement is recognized in them. Of course, evidence is required to prove the event. For example, medical records before and after healing, or testimony from the doctor in charge. However, if a doctor testifies, it means that it cannot be explained, and it is not a miracle. Miracles are judged by the Church.

"Intercession of a Saint" - The important thing is whether the event was due to the "intercession" of a saint. This can be determined from the testimony of the person who prayed to the saint and the circumstances at the time. The Catholic Church believes that those who have been saved, that is, saints, remain with God forever and can intercede for us. For this reason, believers pray for the intercession of a saint. If they pray to a saint and receive grace, it becomes a "sign" that the saint is with God.

"Grace through the intercession of Father Cimatti" - A miracle is now expected to make Venerable Father Cimatti a blessed one, and for this we need to pray for God's grace. We have received numerous reports from many people who admire Father Cimatti that they have received graces, but whether the conditions for a miracle have been met must be left to the discretion of the Church. The events introduced here are all miraculous examples that demonstrate the power of Father Cimatti's intercession. If you have received a grace in the future, please let Father Marsilio, who is in charge of the matter, know.

Note: Due to privacy concerns, we will announce the events with abbreviated names. Detailed information is kept in the Cimatti Archives. With the person's permission, we can make their name public.

Below are just a few examples of the thank you letters we have received so far.
If you would like to request Father Cimatti's intercession, please send a ``Prayer for Intercession.''

●With prayer
YK Tokyo, January 2006

My wife started to have ascites around July 2005, and it gradually rose to her lungs, causing breathing difficulties. After detailed examinations, she was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. A famous professor at Kyorin University Hospital and Jikei University gave her a clear diagnosis, and in the end, we decided to do lymph node-preserving therapy without using anti-cancer drugs. I had given up, thinking that it would be ok, but her cancer markers had reached 1300, and the day before she was admitted to hospital, we all prayed earnestly to Father Cimatti at the altar in my house (although my wife is not a believer). She was also clutching a rosary, and afterwards, her face looked very calm and even bright, so I thought to myself, "Maybe she'll be okay?" The next day, she was admitted to a hospital in Aichi and immediately underwent surgery. I also went to the hospital, and the results were, miraculously, that all the cancer had disappeared, and she did not develop lung cancer. She was discharged in two weeks, and soon after, she was feeling better and better at home, her cancer markers had reached 100, and she was even able to start working again. I believe this is definitely a miracle, and I now offer prayers of thanks to Father Cimatti every day.

●Overcoming depression
A.U. Tokyo, June 2005

On November 14, 2003, my husband collapsed from the harsh work and pressure of his job. I thought he would recover from overwork if he took a day or two off, and up until then I hadn't even thought about how difficult depression can be. I didn't take it lightly.

But my husband just stayed in bed, sleeping day after day, refusing to get up. He had no appetite, and no matter what I said to him, he just sat there in a daze. He was losing weight rapidly and wouldn't speak at all. And of course he couldn't go to work. It seemed like he was pushing work onto others because of him, and it was painful to him to cause trouble for everyone because he was such a responsible and serious person, and he would even take on other people's work, so at the time I thought the worst, and became very worried, thinking he might commit suicide. I tried to change his mood by inviting him to go for walks in the park on nice days, and even though I knew he was depressed, it felt like I was walking with an old man and I couldn't believe he was a man in his 40s, and sadness hit me hard.

At home, my children were in their third year of junior high school and third year of high school, and although I knew that my father was taking time off due to illness, I didn't understand his depression. Things were gradually getting darker at home, and my son in junior high school had problems with continuing on to higher education, so he became increasingly upset and started taking it out on me. My daughter in high school also lost sight of her own path and began to become upset.

At that time, thinking about my future, I also worked hard, thinking that I had to take on more work and earn a living. I got angry when I saw my husband still sleeping in bed even though I was so tired from working, and I yelled at him, "How long are you going to sleep? You are already better. Go to work!" At that moment, my anger rose up in my face as he looked up at me sadly, and when I thought, "It can't be helped because he's sick. What a sinful thing to say," and tears started to flow after I said it. From that time on, my emotional balance began to be disturbed, and I felt like we were being sucked into a quagmire.

At that time, I thought, "That's it. I'll go to Father Cimatti's mass on the 6th and let go of all my heart." My husband and I attended mass and prayed for him to cure our depression, and we also had everyone pray for us during the mass. After that, we continued to pray many times every month at mass on the 6th, saying, "Through Father Cimatti's intercession, please cure my depression. Please give my husband and I courage and strength."

From that time on, my husband's health gradually improved, his depression improved, and his doctor gave him permission to go to work. This was six months after the onset of his illness. If he returned to his previous workplace, the same thing would have happened again, so he asked to be transferred to a different department, and was able to move to an easier position right away. I was relieved about my husband.

At that time, I was hit by a feeling of lethargy and terrible fatigue. I immediately went to the hospital, where I was diagnosed with mild depression. I had also suffered from depression, and for the first time I understood the pain of this illness. I realized that I had said some very cruel things to my husband.

It was around this time that I began to wonder if everything hadn't been God's plan. I began to think that maybe we were saved by depression, because we were so busy every day, losing all peace of mind, and working so hard. If we had continued working, we might have developed a more frightening illness. Our children could no longer rely on their parents, so they began to think and act for themselves and became independent.

My husband and I overcame the illness of depression, and we are feeling full of gratitude to God as we realize that we are moving from a cold winter to a warm spring. I truly understand the meaning of "always be joyful." It seems that this unexpected gift from God has helped us to regain the ability to love our family, to rejoice, to pray, to be grateful, and to have a humble heart.

●Father Cimatti, who helped me
Sermon by Father Shouei Haresaku (Parish priest of Koenji Church, Tokyo) October 26, 2003

HP Excerpt from "Gospel Forest" homepage2.nifty.com/immanuela/hoshi

I would like to share with you a letter I received yesterday from someone who reads my sermons on the Internet.
When this person's father was little, he was placed in a Catholic institution. As a newcomer, he was bullied and had a very hard time there. The third-grader was forced to clean the toilets, even though they were supposed to be on rotation, so he cleaned the toilets every day. Every time, a priest would appear out of nowhere to help, scrubbing and cleaning the dirtiest places with all his might.
The priest's name is Father Chimacchi. Do you know him? He is currently undergoing a beatification investigation.
The father always told his daughter about this kind priest, and it left a deep impression on his daughter. It's a lovely story about a priest who appears out of nowhere to help. I think the priest can see the child. It's the image of a saint who overcomes barriers.
By the way, when that girl grew up and I had almost forgotten about the story, she started playing the organ at church, but she suffered greatly because she could not play as well as she had before. Her hands wouldn't move and she couldn't remember the music. Eventually, she became neurotic and suffered, and on the mornings when it was her turn to play the organ, she would wake up at 3am and have to go to the bathroom because she was so nervous. Eventually, she developed a stomach ulcer, and I thought I couldn't do it anymore, I couldn't serve, and I should refuse.
At that time, he happened to open a magazine that had arrived and saw a picture of Father Chimacchi. As soon as he saw the picture, he remembered the story his father often told him when he was a child about "a priest who appeared out of nowhere and helped him," and tears began to fall for no apparent reason.
She had a picture of Father Cimacci pasted on the back cover of her accompanying sheet music, and whenever she became too nervous and thought she couldn't do it, the picture encouraged her and helped her overcome her fears.
Around that time, he came across "Folk Forest" on the Internet, and when he heard the priest of Koenji Church say, "Come back to Mass. Immerse yourself in God's love at this Mass and let it warm you to the core," he felt truly at ease, and was encouraged by the weekly sermons, which led him to continue serving in the liturgy at Mass to this day.
