(32) Sending Japanese Koto Music
Miyazaki August 5, 1926
Amerio Franco To the seminariansMy good Amerio
Divine Providence has willed that I should write again.... Here I leave you with two wonderful, purely Japanese melodies. I have tried to make them as singable as possible, but they may be a little difficult to sing in chorus. I think they would work better as a solo piece, or on piano or violin.

Moon Japanese bush warbler It's a lyre melody, and I love it. Let Father Ubaldi enjoy it too. If someone can write lyrics for it, that's even better; otherwise, he can hum it without the lyrics. If you make it into a three-part chorus, ask the bass and second tenor to sing pianissimo, otherwise this wonderful gem will be spoiled.
Today, August 5th, the feast of Our Lady of the Snows, I cannot help but think of you. Pray for me, for the time of testing is approaching... Oh! Don't worry.
Knowing very well that I am nothing, I ask Jesus to do all things, and then, in the arms of Mary, my mother... rest in peace!
Anyway, please be cheerful and do your best. Say hello to Mary.
Your Father V. Cimatti
